The meeting has been called to order.

The agenda for this meeting and minutes from the last meeting were approved.
8:07 pm:
Students have expressed a concern over an article published in The Point News about salary increases for certain staff members and not others.
8:08 pm:
The vending machines in Dorchester are cash only and have been for a week.
8:11 pm:
Dr. Beth Rushing is addressing the SGA.
8:12 pm:
Dr. Rushing is discussing the strategic planning process she is undergoing this semester.
8:13 pm:
She is also discussing faculty salaries, which are not on par with SMCM’s peer institutions. 45 will receive increased salaries in the next six months.
8:15 pm:
Dr. Rushing is also working on growing international studies programs and research grants.
8:16 pm:
Dr. Rushing is working on adding a grant for student research during the summer to allow students to do research with faculty on-campus.
8:18 pm:
Faculty salary increases were determined by a regression analysis of professors based on time worked, degree held and their peer average.

Clint Neil and Kelly Schroeder are now addressing the SGA about the new dance party policy.

The new rules began last Spring arising from incidents at the Nest.

SGA Chairs and Student Activity staff created new rules over the summer.

Despite the new rules, problems affecting the safety and security of students and staff at the Nest, dance parties were again cancelled this semester.

According to Neil, dance parties are problems at all colleges.

Tickets will be issued for all dance parties ahead of times to ensure the number of people in DPC stays under the fire capacity.

The fire capacity will determine the number of tickets printed.

No retry will be allowed.

Four Public Safety Officers will staff each event in addition to the volunteers and staff.

The number of volunteers will increase from 7 to 10.

The Nest was started as a substance-free event.

Names will be printed on the ticket.

The behavior in the line waiting to get into the Nest was the worst.

Both of the Nests this semester pushed capacity by 11 o’clock.

The DPC can hold 252 people at a time; Upper Deck can hold 321 people at a time; Half the Recreation Courts can hold 1,021 people at a time; and the full Recreation Courts can hold 2,043 people.

These rules will be re-evaluated after the first Nest next semester.

The SGA is now considering a club constitution for the hieroglyphics club.

The club is seeking no funding. The constitution passed by unanimous consent.

The Flag Football club constitution has been tabled until Jan. 17.

The SGA is now considering Bill 06-11f to purchase composting bins.

The costs will come from the recycling coordinators fund in the amount of 3.23.

The SGA is now considering Bill 08-11f to purchase shirts for students affected by mold for ,160.

The shirts cannot be funded from anyone elses budget.

Sen. Waller doesn’t believe the shirts will make the students happier and instead the SGA should investigate what mistakes were made instead of buying shirts and “pretending everything is already.”

The Senators representing PG and Caroline said they would like shirts.

The shirt would likely be designed by Director of Publicity Caffey.

There has been a motion to amend the final line to read: Be it hereby resolved the SGA allot 60 to provide a welcome back gift for the students affected by mold.

The amendment passes.

The bill passes as amended.
9:30 pm:
The SGA is now considering Resolutions 02-11f – 04-11f to thank Keller Bus company and the three hotels that housed all the mold-affected students.

Some Senators are concerned that the resolutions thank companies who were compensated for their services.

All four resolutions pass in the same unanimous consent motion.

The SGA is now considering club fund appeals.
9:35 pm:
The allotment is allotting ,000 for the ,000 meant to be allotted but SGA President said clubs never spend the entire amount.

The fund appeals by unanimous consent.

The SGA is now considering Programs Board’s fund appeals.

The Programs Board appeals are .43 under their ,000 allotment.

The Programs Board fund appeals pass by unanimous consent.

The SGA is now considering Bill 07-11F to reallocate the ,000 for Loni Love.
9:41 pm:
The bill splits the ,000 into five different Programs Board budgets.

Sen. Waller suggested moving the ,000 into the World Carnival budget to get a bigger band.
9:52 pm:
There is a proposed amendment to tie the ,500 to welcome back weekend.
